The Bishop McCort Key Club

The Key club is the school's chapter of the Kiwanis International Organization, a global volunteer group. We have partnered with Campus Ministry, St. Vincent De Paul Society, The Humane Society, and the Steeples project for service activities in the past few years. We continue to take charge of hunger in the Greater Johnstown area by volunteering our time in collecting food and other goods during a Thanksgiving food drive. We also are active at the St. Vincent De Paul Family Kitchen, for those in need of a hot meal on a Sunday morning. The Key Club is actively pursuing more opportunities to serve the community.

Key Club’s Upcoming Events:

St. Vincent de Paul Society Kitchen  : Sunday, October 13th 2019

The Bishop McCort Key Club is taking over the food procurement, preparation, and service at the St. Vincent De Paul Society kitchen from 9am to 1pm. Mr. Schellhammer will provide the food items, we need volunteers to help prepare the meal, serve the members of the community, and clean up the kitchen after the meal.

Important Member Information

Why Join the Key Club:

The Key Club exemplifies the values of Bishop McCort, in their dedication to serving the community in health and social programs. You have the opportunity to help others, and live your life in a Christ-like manner. Not only will you be able to use it as a resume-builder, but also you can get many or all of your service hours through Key Club projects. Working with those in need will help you be thankful for what you have, and be ready to give to those who have nothing.

Who Can Join:

Members can be anyone in grades 7-12 at Bishop McCort High School or Divine Mercy - no experience required!

Who Can Participate in our Service Projects:

Anyone who wants to help the community. Service hours are available three different times for the St. Vincent De Paul soup kitchen (October 13th, February 2nd, and April 5th from 9am to 1pm). Other service opportunities will be added to the calendar in the coming months and will be announced during school hours.

Membership Requirements:

The Key Club requires that students pay $10 to join the club. This money is used to pay for the food items we prepare at the food kitchen and for other service projects yet to be determined. Last school year, we spent $470 on three meals for over 300 people.

The Key Club also requires all students participate in at least one service project or volunteer opportunity each school year. Your participation will be tracked, and if you did not participate, you will not be allowed to join next year.
