Lift Scholarship

Bishop McCort Catholic High School is proud to announce the Lift Johnstown Scholarship Challenge. This challenge will provide 20 incoming high school freshmen from the Johnstown area a scholarship of almost 90% tuition assistance to attend Bishop McCort Catholic High School for four years, from 2011– 2015.

This program provides an opportunity to expand our role in the community and achieve our mission: uplifting kids by providing the academic training and support necessary to graduate with a post-secondary degree from BMCHS and matriculate to a 4-year post-secondary program.

The Lift Johnstown Scholarship Challenge opens the doors for families in the region that are looking for a different choice in education. Bishop McCort Catholic High School provides structured programs that will empower kids and enhance their future.

Scholarship Highlights
• Character & leadership development programs
• Adult mentoring
• Extra-curricular activities
• Academic enrichment services

To qualify, students must complete an application and be eligible for the state’s free or reduced-cost lunch program, which is based on family income.

Bishop McCort Catholic High School welcomes students from all faiths.

Families are drawn to McCort for its reputation for offering a disciplined educational environment where more than 70% of students maintain a 3.0 or better grade point average. Yet the student population is far from affluent. More than 20% of 409 students are economically distressed students (EDS) and are eligible for free and reduced lunches, with eligibility currently topping 30% in some grade levels. Overall, nearly 70% of students qualify for some financial aid from the Diocesan Scholarship Fund, Independent Catholic Foundation (ICF), BMCHS Named Scholarship Program, and the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.

Open applications will be accepted and processed until June 30, 2011.  Click the links below for application forms.
