Gene Schultz Memorial Baseball Tournament

Bishop McCort Catholic High School has announced they will host the Third Annual Gene Schultz Memorial Baseball Tournament at Point Stadium on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20. The tournament was created to honor Mr. Gene Schultz, the legendary baseball coach and teacher at Bishop McCort, who guided the Crushers for 26 years. Gene Schultz 2013.jpg

This year marks a special milestone for the tournament. Two of Coach Schultz’s granddaughters are freshmen at Bishop McCort and will take part in the pregame festivities prior to Friday’s game between Bishop McCort and Conemaugh Township. Mikayla Hagerty will perform the national anthem and Libby Rager will throw out the first pitch.

The pairings for the opening round of the tournament on Friday April 19th will have Westmont vs. Hollidaysburg at 4:00 p.m. and Bishop McCort vs. Conemaugh Township in the 7:00 p.m. game. Saturday will feature the Consolation game at 1:00 p.m. and the Championship game 4:00 p.m. All games will be played at the Point Stadium. The Crushers won the tournament in each of the past two seasons.
