Strings

The String Orchestra at Bishop McCort Catholic High School is comprised of violin, viola, cello, and string bass. Students interested in enrolling in this class must have a basic knowledge of one of these instruments. This class is a chamber music class, which allows us to work in a smaller group in which we can really focus on blending our sounds, improving on our ensemble skills, and fine tuning our technique.  Members enrolled in string orchestra must participate in Symphony Orchestra. We strive to give our students a well-rounded musical education that includes music history, music theory, and performance through basic string literature. Because of the performance nature of this class, students are graded on personal progress and attendance at all performances and rehearsals. Students are able to perform at many school-related venues, including the Honor Society and Scholarship Dinners, the Open-House for parents of prospective students, the McCort Benefit Auction, and many other community events.  Exceptional students have the opportunity to participate in District, Region, and State Orchestra.
