Named Scholarships

Named Scholarships benefit qualifying McCort students. To establish a Named Scholarship a commitment of a gift of $500 or more for three consecutive years is required and allows the donors to create the scholarship in their name or the name of a loved one.

With a named scholarship, your entire contribution is awarded each year to a qualified student.

On October 22, 2010, Bishop McCort Catholic High School celebrated the twelth anniversary of the Named Scholarship Program at a luncheon in the high school cafeteria. The luncheon provided the opprtunity for our thoughtful and generous Benefactors to meet their scholarship recipient(s) and for our student scholarship awardees to meet and personally thank the individual or family for their commitment and support of their Catholic education.

From the one scholarship established in 1998 that aided only a few students, there are now 60 scholarships which help more than 112 students. Approximately 30% of the student population is helped by these gracious donations. When the program was launched in 1998, tuition at Bishop McCort was $3,150 and a $500 grant made a substantial difference. The cost to attend McCort today is $5250. Everything has gone up in price in the past twelve years. In 2010, consider increasing a named scholarship contribution to $750 per year which would have the impact on the cost of tuition the way a $500 donation did in 1998.
