Great Americans Day Contest Winners

At the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on November 7, 2017, Mrs. Reaman's AP U.S. History students heard retired U.S. Navy Captain Dr. Cynthia Izuno Macri speak about Senator Inouye, the internment of Japanese-Americans, and the role and heroism of the Nisei soldiers during World War II. The associated essay contest was designed to reinforce the importance of individual and collective contributions for the common good.

The Great Americans Day Forum is funded by the Howard M. & Adelle C. Picking Great Americans Day Forum Fund with additional funding from the Pitt-Johnstown History Club. The Great Americans Day Essay Contest is sponsored by the CTC Foundation, an affiliate of Concurrent Technologies Corporation. Cash prizes are donated by Conway B. Jones, Jr., CTC Foundation Chair.
