Purpose: To enhance service learning, dedicated community outreach and invite integrity to the service hour program.

Student Objectives- Students will be able to:

Volunteer at a community organization, parish community and school community to learn of services needed at the community/parish/school/ level.

Help community/parish/school/ by performing duties/ jobs, to enhance personal development and service learning opportunities.

Bishop McCort Catholic High School (Grades 9-12)

Every student will complete a minimum of 30 pre-approved service hours for each year that you are enrolled at Bishop McCort Catholic High School.  You will be required to do 30 hours or more every year. A total of 60 hours will be needed upon graduation. (You will not walk at graduation if hours are not complete).

Bishop McCort will provide a Service Orientation Day, which will include, parishes, churches and community organizations which you may choose from to do service hours.  You may choose your own organization with pre-approval from the Theology Department.

Clarifications

A total of 60 hours upon graduation means that every year you must complete 15 hours.

If you were under the “old” system, your totals would be different. However, you must have 15 hours every year beginning the school year 2019-20 and beyond..

The Theology Department will determine the Test Grade equivalent for service hours.

(Example:  15 hours could equal 100 points. If you complete more than 15 hours in one school year they do not carry over to the next year. They will be noted for your records, but 15 hours must be completed every year.

(Grades 7 & 8)
