BMCHS Senior Adeline Mishler was honored to be chosen to introduce the keynote speaker, Malala Yousafzai, the young teen girl from Pakistan that was shot in the head by the Taliban yet miraculously survived and continues to be a fearless leader for the education of girls around the world and she is the youngest Nobel Peace Laureate to ever receive the honor. Adeline entered a contest put on by the President Leadership Summit. It was a two minute video of her thoughts on Carpe Futurum. Her video was chosen and she was emailed yesterday that she will be introducing Malala, the keynote speaker at the Summit. Adeline is completely honored and humbled to be given this opportunity in front of the 2,500 high school attendees from 50 states and 30 counties across the globe.

  • 2:57 McCort Senior Earns Full Scholarship to University of Pennsylvania

Missy Murin, a Bishop McCort Catholic High School senior, has a lot to look forward to in 2020, including a four-year, ALL expenses paid scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania worth more than $310,000. She received the prestigious scholarship through the QuestBridge National College Match program. Missy is one of only 1,127 seniors out of 14,926 applicants from across the country to receive the Match Scholarship. It covers the full cost of attendance, including tuition, room and board, books and supplies, and travel expenses to and from Johnstown for four years.
Winners have an average unweighted GPA of 3.93, and score between 1350-1500 on the SAT and between 30-33 on the ACT. Missy exceeded all of these benchmarks and, like nearly 80% of recipients, is the first generation in her family to attend a four-year college.
