WHAT IS THE HERREN PROJECT CLUB?

About Herren Project Clubs

Herren Project Clubs create a peer network in schools to empower youth to make healthy choices. They encourage overall wellness, development of coping skills and leadership in schools and communities. Through club meetings and events, students learn about healthy choices, decision-making skills, stress management, self-care, and empowerment. This allows them to cope with life’s challenges in a positive way while remaining substance-free. The school communities that form within Herren Project Clubs motivate students to be true to themselves and support one another.

If your school previously supported our retired THP Project Purple Initiative, you can now carry out Chris Herren’s message year-round by implementing Herren Project Clubs.

Herren Project Clubs is made possible through a grant from the Phyllis W. McGillicuddy Charitable Trust.

WHY THE HERREN PROJECT CLUB?

The Herren Project Clubs are ultimately prevention programs and a wellness programs.  The aim is to avoid "The First Day" that leads down a road of destructive decisions.

Chris Herren, former professional basketball player, author and wellness advocate, has shared his story of recovery with over 1 million people nationwide. The First Day film chronicles this journey revealing Herren’s vulnerability and his profound connections with high school students who, in turn, have shared their stories of struggle and strength. Through the power of storytelling, The First Day addresses issues that school systems, communities and people across the country are impacted by, directly or indirectly, each day including substance use, other harmful behaviors and mental wellness.

The First Day film is a powerful story that inspires this group to strive for healthy and safe community building within our student body.
