The Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences (PGSS) was established in order to provide a summer enrichment experience in the sciences and mathematics for talented Pennsylvania high school students and to encourage them to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics. The program provides instruction in biological sciences, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science, with emphasis on collaborative learning and team research.

The Iacocca Global Entrepreneurship Intensive brings American high school sophomores and juniors (ages 16-17) together with international high school students from all regions of the world for four weeks to live and learn together at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.  Students learn about entrepreneurship, globalization, team building, project management, leadership and working within a culturally diverse environment.

The dynamic world of health care plus the expertise of the University of Pittsburgh academics and facilities.  This educational mixture shapes a unique, academically rigorous, hands-on campus experience for students attending the Health Career Scholars Academy (UPHCSA) each summer.  The Academy is often a springboard for future studies in medicine.

Summerfuel’s Pre-College Program at Tufts offers an exciting opportunity for curious and passionate students who thrive in a supportive and engaging environment. Experience college life just outside of Boston on the campus of a top-ranked US university, and prepare intellectually and socially for a successful college career. Our Pre-College summer programs for high school students inspire exploration and discovery, with dynamic seminar and workshop options. Courses are structured to encourage hands-on participation, while activities are customized based on student interest, ensuring a highly personal experience.

Summer Scholars participants spend two intense weeks in one of 22 exciting programs of study. We keep the classes small and personal attention from Notre Dame faculty high. The coursework is a true preview of college academics—it is both rigorous and rewarding, and students earn one college credit upon the completion of a program track. Students collaborate on coursework outside designated class times, as they would in any college setting. There is also ample time to enjoy the social facets of college life, especially those unique to Notre Dame.

Students are strongly encouraged to do at least one job shadowing experience during their high school years.  Students may be excused from school to job shadow. Job Shadowing is an academically motivating activity designed to give students the unique opportunity of an up-close look at the world of work and provide the answer to the commonly asked question, “Why do I have to learn this?” Students can find job shadow opportunities in the community, at their parents’ place of employment, or by stopping in the Guidance Office.
